What is Knights of Columbus



Knights of Columbus is a Catholic Organization founded by a Father Michael J. McGivney on October 2, 1881 in a basement of St. Mary's Church in New Haven, Connecticut, USA. Together with a group of men, Father McGivney formed a fraternal society that sought strength in Solidarity and security through unity if purpose and devotion to a holy cause and vowed to be defenders of their country, their families and their faith. These men were bound together by the ideals of Christopher Columbus, the discoverer of the Americas the one who brought Christianity to the world , thus naming the organization Knights of Columbus.

The Knights of Columbus was formed to render financial aid to members and their families. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick , needy and disabled members and social fellowship is promoted among members and their families through educational,charitable,religious, social welfare and public relief works. It's core vision also include a life insurance program to provide for the widows and orphans of deceased members.

Today, the Knights of Columbus is the biggest Catholic Organization in the world and has been called the Strong right hand of the Catholic Church being praised by Popes, Presidents and other world leaders for support of the Church, it's programs of evangelization, Civic involvement and aid to those in need.

Every Male Citizen of the Roman Catholic Church , eighteen years old and above are entitled to join the order of the Knights of Columbus. Our Mabolo Council 5308 is one of the 14,000 strong councils of the order spread through United States, Canada, Mexico, Poland, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Panama, the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, Cuba, Guatemala, Guam, Saipan and our Country, the Philippines.

Don't hesitate to join an approach any Knight and you will be one of the 2 million members also named as the defenders the Catholic Faith.
